Older brother of Mikey Way (who plays bass for My Chemical Romance).

He drew the cover of My Chemical Romance’s second album “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”.

He originally wanted to be a comic book artist, and was working for Cartoon Network before 9/11.

He pitched a cartoon series called “The Breakfast Monkey” to Cartoon Network, but it was turned down due to similarities with Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Gerard is 1/2 Italian (mother’s side), and also 1/2 Scottish (father’s side).

He and his brother Mikey are maternal second cousins of Joe Rogan, host of the NBC game/stunt show “Fear Factor”.

When he was in the 4th grade, he was the only boy to try out for his school’s production of “Peter Pan” and he got the role.

Suffers from trypanophobia (a fear of needles).

Hates being asked about his hair in interviews (as a result of dyeing it white for “The Black Parade”).

Has recovered from an addiction to drugs and alcohol, being sober as of August 2004.

According to an AOL interview, Gerard and the rest of My Chemical Romance play World of Warcraft. Gerard is said to be an Undead Warrior.

Gerard’s first ever concert was to see ‘The Boss’ (Bruce Springsteen) with his mom.
